  Chinook
Chinook Jargon - The Hidden Language of the Pacific Northwest
Chinook Jargon is the most accessible of all the Native American languages. With a small utilitarian vocabulary and straightforward syntax, it was the lingua franca of the Northwest for most of the 1800s. One hundred thousand Native Americans, settlers and immigrants were using it in 1875.

Cree Language Lessons
These lessons come from: A Cree Phrase Book (Department of Native Studies, Brandon University, Brandon Manitoba); used here with permission. The phrase book is a compilation of materials from the course Introduction to the Cree Language developed in the IMPACTE programme at Brandon University and first taught in the winter of 1972. The text is based on the dialects of Manitoba.

This website is brought to you by the Sealaska Heritage Institute, and is dedicated to the study, preservation and revitalization of the Haida language.
  Halkomelem/Salish
Halkomelem/Salish 100
This web site contains materials that were used in conjunction with Linguistics 401, Salish I, in 1998. The language is a Coast Salish language known in the linguistic literature as Halkomelem. For speakers on Vancouver Island, it is Hul'q'umi'num', as written in these lessons.
  Michif
Michif Language Lessons
The Metis Culture & Heritage Resource Centre was incorporated in the fall of 1996 as a non- profit, charitable organization working towards the preservation and restoration of Metis history, culture, and Metis genealogy. Through these ten Michif Language Lessons the Metis Resource Centre will attempt to provide basic conversational language lessons for those who want to have an interactive experience of the spoken and written language. Due to the many regional and cultural dialects, this language is not "written in stone" although there is on-going work being done for the preservation of our Michif language.

This site is dedicated to the preservation and revitalization of Unyææshæoetka, the language of the West Virginia Mingo, and includes an alphabet, a Mingo dictionary, language lessons, grammar, texts, and other resources.
  Ojibwe
Ojibwe Language Lessons
Ojibwe is the spoken language of the Anishnaabe people, handed orally from generation to generation. The Bay Mills Indian Community has been endeavoring for many years to strengthen the tradition of the Native tongue. Starting in October 2003, the Bay Mills News publishes monthly Ojibwe language lessons to give our readers examples of common words and phrases used by the Anishnaabe people. Each month's lesson is available here, in PDF format.
